Reflection #17 – February 19

Hmpf. Who guessed it, I got short on time just like February does.

Well what can I say, my exams are around next corner and my productivity dropped more than I expected. At least I’m getting into learning now and should succeed in them, after those, I’ll have plenty of time to spend with some relaxing works and some inspiring gameplay.

Now let’s switch over to my one and only (eff) artwork done this whole month.

Valentine’s Day in Moscow [Special] – AC #164 Love

Valentine's Day in Moscow [Special] - AC #164 Love by Souvillaine

My only artwork (that got finished at least) was dedicated to a moment, marcioo9 and I had in a roleplay with our characters. After a successful contract, Zavi, Tobias and Yvette visited the city of moscow and found a luxurious hotel to set their feet in. Despite having a lot of fun, the night was rather rough; Yvette had woken from a nightmare and Zavi came to aid her. They walked over to the big window and just rested there on the fuzzy carpet and forgot their worries. Probably the first time in a long while they really felt secure.
When the sun rose and the soft warmth of the first rays touched their cheeks, they saw each other and something made ‘click’ in their heads. Something told them there was more connecting them than this occasion, this mission or this room; something… something more meaningful.

Ahh I had fun doing this. My first attempt at interior design and more cold lighting. The linework was done well, I think but sadly the time ran out as I was approaching Valentine’s and some more obstacles that went in my way. Without them, I probably had done better with more time. But this taught me to take my time with the lines and proper composition of the image before starting with colours. I’ll try to keep this up and grant me more time for each artwork to work out any flaws that I can spot.

Upcoming Stuff & Preplanning

I do have some concepts in my mind, even a character design I still have the will to work on. But what will be more important – although I know to keep my priorities – are the 4 prizes to my raffle. In March, I will do what I see manageable without neglecting my preparations for my exams. Maybe I will try to finish my current work if I can come to a sketch I like – that is.

Shoutout

Only a short shoutout this time because I could only find two artists this month.

 Lazy Lapwing:

Only recently joined deviantArt but definitely an eye-catcher. Her technique of rendering landscapes with soft and simple planes conveys a very subtle and smooth atmosphere or doing the same with animal portraits is admirable and definitely worth checking out!

 Malgorzata:

Sadly more into adobtables, this artist still shine sin my eyes because of the fluid lines, creative concepts and very decent showcases. She also makes this list because she often does live streams that teach you about her techniques a bit.

That’s it for this month’s reflection!

I hope I can do the next one in time… since it is two days before my first and hardest exam.
 Anyway, until next time!
