Hello and happy New Year!
Usually, I also include last December in the recap as well but I have already talked about it enough in my Annual Reflection, so we’re all set for a fresh start!
I want to begin with that it hasn’t been very eventful to me or at least it feels like it. Weeks kinda flashed by without much progress but I had some nice highlights in between.

I want to start with this drawing here, my biggest project of the traditional pieces so far. I did start it on a calm day after my birthday but finished the linework and colours in this year.
At first, I wanted to try out my new watercolor set that I got for Christmas but found out that this paper isn’t suitable for watercolor, this it all had to be done with markers. And well, I have gotten wery tired of using them on this project. Sincerely, half of my work time on this has been finding the right colours for the tones and that’s even without much rendering going on. It showed me that having a 120 marker set sometimes provides too many options to chose from. Regardless, I like the result of my first background-including drawing. I hope to be able to make more jungle-themed artworks this year in anticipation of Awoostria’s con theme. I’m very much looking forward to that.
So I was still thrilled to try out my watercolor set on a small oddly formatted paper that was in the set already. it is quite adequate but I need something bigger for future pieces of course. My main takeaway from watercolors was how easy it feels to find the right color. I was a little afraid of mixing at first but once you detach yourself from one specific hue and learn to accept a broader range of possible colors and apply them, it is a lot of fun. I love the texture it brings and the versatility of picking up pigments, combine with another color or mix water with it to get more texture was instantly gratifying. I do have some trouble with filling out forms yet as you can best see on the work on the left but so far I’ve been having a lot of fun. I’ll be ordering new paper as this one is running out and try to practice a bit more for NFC to maybe open up commissions.

You may have noted the red outlines on the left also. That’s from a new ink and brush that I got myself. Unfortunately the given color is too bright to be used proper with outlines. I just have to get the right color and perhaps a broader pen tip in order to suit my needs. But I very much like it. It’got s a nice fancy and traditional feel to it and is more flexible than I had expected from a calligraphy pen. What I’m missing besides the new ink is a nice little container to keei it with me. Maybe a local flea market will have what I need. >v>
But yeah I’ve been mostly doing traditional stuff this month. I have a sketch for a new digital project but will have to see when I got the time to do it. I also started doing a whole new sticker set during free hours at work, There’s not really anything noteworthy about them but I wanted to show them here at the very least <3

Work on my bachelor’s is going slowly but that’s because I have to figure out how the head will look, feel and function. I already did a 3D scan of my head and had it printed by a friend. I’ll use it to make a miniature version of it with air-drying clay that I got for a secret santa to get a first impression of the scale… if I won’t do it digitally first >v>
Oh, I almost forgot. I was selected in a pupils build-up program from an university in Denmark that I will attend every once and a while to get a grasp on the industry and to help me with my perhaps future animation projects. I even will have a private mentorship in March which I’m very excited for!
Alright, two weeks from now will be NFC I almost can’t believe how quickly this month passed by. I’m gonna show you my insights at the end of February. Have a delightful time until then!
