Reflection #79 – October 24

Heya!

I hope you had a wonderful Halloween in spooky costumes and with full bags of candy… I mean I’d love to do that <v<

The day was spent mostly at uni, gathering for a film quiz was fun and I departed for a comedic event in the evening. It was nice considering I had near to no plans for the day beforehand.

By starting the semester, a ton of points flooded my to-do list.

There was so much, that I had to create a daily work-plan to keep an overview and not to be struck by overwhelming things that need to be done by the end of next semester.

This plan helped me a lot actually in scheduling and I’ll keep it up until things get more relaxed.

I started the month still at home, still lightly fading out the post con-exhaustion and staying for some friend’s meet-ups and a birthday. I spent the time between to get into Godot – the game engine that I’ll be using for my Game Project. And getting into it was pretty easy! I didn’t have much time recently to continue doing tutorials but I’ll be back to it this weekend! I’m actually really excited to realize a little game project all from the ground up.

This month, I actually moved in to a new place fully. As I’ve probably stated in an earlier reflection, I wasn’t feeling very well in the old place but I had the opportunity to move in with some co-students of mine. The new place is smaller but overall, I’m much happier and I’ve taken my time to make it a proper little home for me. All my walls feature my works and the prints I have gathered over the years from several fur cons and from friends.

I’m just not getting too comfy here, as I’m planning to move out again after a year to head out for the overdue internship.

Despite all duties, I still want to partake in as many leisures as I can. Whether to go on a party, do a game-night with people, see a lecture that’s enticing or visiting events, I want to go there and make new experiences. I def felt the lack of it in my time after the last semester ended and so I want to take the opportunity as long as I have the privilege in my study time. So I went to a friend’s party, collected sweet chestnuts, had a game night in my flat, went to the pumpkin festival, booked my stay at NordicFuzzCon next year and decided to go to a concert in munich and see my (now) favourite band HEALTH, who I first found out about with their Soundtrack they did for Max Payne 3. They are probably the most influential Artists for me in the last 5 years and seeing them live for the first time was such a great experience. I went on my own to give me the space to cut lose and enjoy myself fully, testing to reach out to people and do some daring deeds -v- and it was a good decision. The concert was one if not THE highlight for me this month and I am stoked to see them again hopefully soon-ish.

Working on my projects on my own time was mostly successful, I’ve only so far been having trouble getting up and then do some work. I’ll have to rethink my approach, maybe find a way to force myself to make it to the workspace in the morning and not spend most of my time on videos…

This month, I have no real pieces to show and it would disrupt my writing to scrape something up now. I was fairly productive though!

It’s hard to pinpoint what exactly I spent the most on this month. My main construction-sites are learning the tutorials for Godot, writing an animation script, doing animation exercises and two active commissions which I’m developing slowly.

On the side, I’ve also been doing some voice directing for my animation film project, editing songs from my music collection and traditional drawing, which I’m trying to make a weekly thing now.

What’s up next will be having a relaxing weekend!

I’m dying to make that game and get more in the process of planning and programming content. The two comms will hopefully be done next month so I get more time for my school project in December. Alas, there’s things to show when there’s things to show.

I wish you a very nice November and see what to make of this month :3

Sincerely,

~ Souvillaine
